Job Description

INNSIDE BY MELIA is currently looking for a Purchasing Manager to join us. We are located in No. 693, Eko Cheras, N-G01, Batu 5, Jln Cheras, 56000 Kuala Lumpur

Responsibilities:

  1. To review purchase requisitions by taking into consideration issues such as lead times, standardization, quantity discounts, and purchasing budgets.
  2. To assist any Department in the hotel in formulating their material requirements and to use competitive bidding or other approved procedures to obtain the best price.
  3. To engage in value analysis of currently purchased materials to achieve cost savings without sacrificing quality.
  4. Check and manage the current supplier list by identifying potential suppliers and conducting vendor visits.
  5. To be informed about technological innovations and to review lower-cost substitute materials with all departments.
  6. To deal with Customs and local authorities.
  7. To oversee and ensure the effective implementation of the tender system so that the continuous supply of quality goods and services to the hotel is not compromised.
  8. To ensure the timely preparation of purchase orders so that approved purchase requests can be ordered and the goods delivered by the suppliers on the date needed.
  9. Coordinate and liaise with the Head of Department on all matters relating to quality and reliability of delivery for current and potential suppliers.
  10. To visit and evaluate suppliers, request quotations or bids, negotiate prices and terms, place orders, resolve problems, follow up any outstanding delivery, and activate any payment with the Hotel’s current suppliers and potential suppliers.
  11. To cultivate a sound relationship with the Hotel’s suppliers.
  12. Implement sound purchasing policies, systems, and procedures following Company standards.
  13. Monitor vendors for quality, service, and price through standard purchasing specifications.
  14. Obtain competitive quotations for hotel requirements and ensure the best product is sourced and purchased
  15. A minimum of three independent genuine quotations must be obtained.

Requirements:

  • Possessed related field and working experience of at least 2-3 years
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing work environment
