Job Purpose
To assist the QA/QC Manager in overseeing all quality-related activities including raw material inspection, in-process testing, finished goods evaluation, documentation control, and compliance with regulatory standards.Supports the maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS), drives continuous improvement activities, and ensures consistent product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Quality System & Compliance
- Assist in implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 QMS requirements.
- Ensure SOPs, Work Instructions, QC forms, and quality documents are updated and controlled.
- Support internal and external audit preparations, including audit evidence and corrective actions.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with DOE, DOSH, GHS, VOC requirements for aerosol paint products.
2. Quality Control Operations
- Oversee daily QC activities for incoming raw materials, in-process checks, and finished goods.
- Monitor testing procedures for viscosity, gloss, hiding power, adhesion, spray pattern, leak test, weight check, etc.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and in good working condition.
- Review QC reports, test results, and COAs before submission to the Manager for final approval.
- Assist in troubleshooting production quality issues and recommending improvements.
3. Customer Quality & Complaint Handling
- Assist in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for internal and external complaints using 8D, Fishbone, or 5 Why’s.
- Support the coordination of Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) with Production, Maintenance, and R&D teams.
- Help prepare monthly quality performance reports and trend analysis.
- Participate in customer visits or discussions regarding quality issues when required.
4. Continuous Improvement
- Support Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives for reducing scrap, improving yield, and enhancing process stability.
- Assist in implementing Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other quality tools.
- Work with R&D to validate new formulations, raw materials, and color shades.
- Contribute ideas to improve QC testing efficiency, accuracy, and workflow.
5. Team Support & Coordination
- Assist in supervising QC inspectors, lab technicians, and ensuring daily task execution.
- Provide training or refresher guidance on QC testing, procedures, and safety practices.
- Ensure team discipline, compliance, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Act as second-in-command, stepping in for the QA/QC Manager when required.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare QC reports, NCR drafts, CPAR/8D reports, and batch release documents.
- Maintain updated technical records, audit files, and lab documentation.
- Assist in BOM checking and ensuring formulation alignment with specifications.
- Ensure data accuracy and compliance in QC records and system entries.
Requirements :
1. Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or related field.
2. Work Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in QA/QC in chemical, coating, aerosol, or paint manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with raw material testing, in-process QC, and color matching is preferred.
3. Technical Knowledge
Good understanding of:
- Aerosol paint systems and propellants (LPG/DME)
- Solvent-based coatings
- Wet chemistry tests (viscosity, density, pH, fineness)
- Spray testing, adhesion, drying time
- Raw material specifications & standards
- Familiarity with SDS, TDS, and basic chemical safety requirements.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of RCA tools (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why’s, PDCA).
4. Quality System Knowledge
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015.
- Experience in audits, calibration systems, NCR, and CAPA handling.
5. Leadership & Soft Skills
- Able to supervise QC inspectors and coordinate team activities.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- High attention to detail, discipline, and integrity.
- Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia & English.
6. Additional Requirements
- Must not be color blind (critical for paint industry).
- Knowledge in ESH or chemical handling is an added advantage.
- Willing to travel to customer sites when required.
