Geotechnical Engineer Intern

We are seeking an graduate engineer intern with an interest in foundation and geotechnical engineering.  You are a student and looking for work experience.

The intern will be responsible for managing site operations, including the understanding and implementation of various construction techniques such as bored piles, micro piles, caisson piles, slope stabilisation and retaining wall systems.

Engineering experience is not essential, but evidence of interest in construction, engineering and other experience in leadership positions is required.

The engineer should also have interest in developing understanding of engineering contracts and be open to work with digital software tools used by geotechnical engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee site operations and manage construction projects related to foundations and geotechnical work
• Maintain daily communication with operators, site supervisors, engineers, QS to keep team up-to-date with daily site progress
• Compile technical and progress reports
• Understand construction drawings, soil reports and other relevant documents
• Understand construction techniques such as piling, foundation work, slope stabilization, and soil mechanics
• Understand design of foundation and geotechnical plans
• Develop understanding of contractual issues
• Proficiency in digital software tools used by geotechnical engineers is a bonus

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering or a related field
• Eligible for registration as graduate engineer with IEM
• Beginner knowledge in digital software tools used by geotechnical engineers
• Good understanding of construction techniques and methods related to foundations and geotechnical work
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills
• Strong sense of responsibility
• Able to provide excellent client service
